How to compare Windows services between servers

If you need to compare Windows services between Windows servers, the Compare System Values feature in Explorer Dashboard offers you a quick way to compare server configurations in one easy-to-read table. Various filters can be used to identify differences and similarities between servers. Identify whether services are different on both servers or whether the same number of services are running on both servers. Service name, state, and start mode are listed. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) queries are used to extract server configurations.

Steps to compare services

  • From the Monitor Type drop-down, select Services
  • From the System drop-down, select the master lab server and click Load System Values
  • From the System drop-down, select the client server and click Load System Values
  • From the Main Menu, select System -> Compare System Values
  • Set the Primary drop-down to the master lab server and the Secondary drop-down to the client server
  • Set the System Values Type drop-down to Services

The table now contains services from both servers. You can use the various filters to isolate the differences between the servers. The filters are explained below.
